Travelling To Asia From The UK: Do I Need A Visa?
Asia is a glorious continent brimming with a wide range of unique countries and beautiful places to explore. It’s one of the 2Passports1Dream team’s favourite regions to visit, and we love to share our thoughts and experiences.
One of the most significant issues with travelling anywhere in the world is getting all of the paperwork together. You’ve got everything from visas to permits and vaccination certifications to consider. Without one of these documents, you could find that your trip gets cut short before it even begins.
If you’re interested in finding out where in Asia you need a visa, and which countries don’t require one when travelling from the UK on a UK passport, then read on and we’ll tell you.
Are Visa Requirements The Same Throughout Asia?
Each country in Asia has a separate governing authority, and as such, they all have unique travel guidelines and restrictions.
Therefore, you need to check the requirements of the Asian country, or countries, that you intend to travel to so that you know whether or not you need a visa.
Asian Countries That Don’t Require A Visa
Some countries in Asia don’t require a visa from UK travellers, including:
- The Maldives
Many other countries in Asia also allow you to travel without a visa, which is excellent as it saves you time and effort. If you’re planning on travelling to a popular destination like Thailand, then you’ll have one less thing to worry about, as Thailand does not require a visa for British citizens.
How Do I Find Out If I Need A Visa?
While some countries in Asia don’t require a visa, many do, so you need to learn what you need and where you need to apply to get a visa before you travel.
The best way to find out if you need a visa is to visit the government website for the country you’re travelling to or read the travel guidelines offered by the UK Government.
Is It Easy To Apply For A Visa For An Asian Country?
Many Asian countries offer visas on arrival, or e-visas, which you can apply for online and don’t even need to print out. All you have to do is apply for and get approved for your e-visa, then show your passport when you reach your destination.
The visa data will be stored digitally and linked to your passport, meaning no fuss or hassle!
In some cases, you might need to go through a more laborious process to get your visa, especially if you have exceptional circumstances or are taking an extended trip to dangerous areas.
Make sure that you find out what you need and have the correct paperwork before you set off so that you don’t get any nasty surprises when you land!
Once you have all the paperwork that you need, you are all set! We find that using a travel wallet really helps us to stay organised whilst we are travelling, as it helps to keep our documents, passports, photocopies, and some local currency in the same place! Just make sure that you pop it in your hotel or hostel safe once you arrive at your destination!
